Free Resources - Personal Development Exercises
If you aren't ready for coaching at the moment, but want to start making changes to your life, try working through some of the exercises included in this section. They are not a replacement for coaching but are based on work I have done with clients and will make a difference - if you do them. Reading alone is not going to make them happen!
I suggest you keep a separate book or file for this important journey you are starting towards a better future. You may want to keep your notes private or you may want to work with a friend, each of you doing the exercises and getting together once a week or so to say how things are going.
As you start taking action, remember to reward yourself for what you achieve. Don't think you have to wait until you have reached your ultimate goal, each small step is important and deserves to be celebrated. Make a list of ways (they don't have to be expensive) to reward yourself along the way - here are some ideas to get you started ...
Buy that paperback you want to read; Spend a whole afternoon reading it!; Get some fresh flowers; Luxuriate in a bubble bath; Enjoy a trip to the theatre or cinema; Have a meal with friends...
Prepare yourself by making sure you have a quiet place to think and make notes, play music you enjoy by all means but pick a time when you aren't going to be interrupted, turn the ringer off on the telephone and let the answering machine take your calls. If you are serious about wanting to make changes, then believing you deserve this time for yourself is the first step to taking control of your life.
And here are the exercises - have fun!
